Connect PayTravel to ChatGPT

Add PayTravel to ChatGPT once, then ask about your trips, applications and bookings in a chat.

What you need

A PayTravel account and ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com) from a computer: custom connections can't be added from the mobile app. OpenAI offers them on its Business, Enterprise and Edu plans; on Business, only workspace admins and owners can add one. If you don't see Add custom MCP server, your ChatGPT plan or workspace doesn't allow it yet.

Paste this link when ChatGPT asks for the server URL. It's the same for every PayTravel workspace.

    Open Plugins

    On chatgpt.com, open Plugins (chatgpt.com/plugins). Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.

    Add PayTravel

    Enter PayTravel as the name. Under Connection, paste https://api.paytravel.co/mcp. For authentication, choose OAuth: you'll log in to PayTravel in the next steps, so there's no key or password to paste here.

    Confirm and create

    Read the warning, tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create as a plugin. ChatGPT lists the PayTravel tools it found.

    Log in to PayTravel and approve

    When ChatGPT asks you to log in, PayTravel opens. Log in with your email, check the permissions and choose Connect. You're sent back to ChatGPT.

    Ask in a chat

    Install the plugin if ChatGPT asks, start a new chat, type @, pick PayTravel and ask your question.

Before anything connects, PayTravel lists what ChatGPT asks to do, such as See your workspaces, trips, applications and summaries. ChatGPT also asks to make changes, so you'll see Make changes only after you confirm each one. Choosing Connect approves what's listed, and every change is still shown to you first and waits for your OK in the chat. Choose Cancel if you'd rather not connect. Travelers' emails, phone numbers, documents and payment details are never shared.

Things to ask

Write like you'd talk to a colleague. A few to start:

  • “How many travelers are booked on the Patagonia trip?”
  • “Which trips are open for applications right now?”
  • “Show the applications waiting for my review.”
  • “Summarize this week's new applications and bookings.”
  • “Write an Instagram post for the July trip with its dates.”
  • “Show the reviews waiting for approval and publish the ones I pick.”

Disconnect

In PayTravel, open the user menu → Profile → Connected Apps and choose Disconnect next to ChatGPT. It loses access right away, and you can connect it again later. You can also remove the plugin in ChatGPT.

Troubleshooting

  • No Add custom MCP server option: your plan or workspace doesn't allow custom servers. On Business, ask a workspace admin or owner to add PayTravel.
  • PayTravel doesn't answer: type @ and pick PayTravel in each message that needs your data.
  • “Couldn't connect”: check the link is exactly https://api.paytravel.co/mcp, with no spaces before or after it.
  • A workspace is missing: you only see workspaces you belong to, and the workspace needs an active PayTravel subscription.
  • It stopped answering about PayTravel: disconnect it in Connected Apps, then connect it again.
  • Still stuck? Email support@paytravel.co and a person answers, usually the same day.
